Permission to boxer denied
PA Wellington The Minister of Immigration (Mr Gill) has denied that the Edmonton Commonwealth Games boxing choice, Folasi Rayno, had been given permission to stay in New Zealand for a further three months following his deportation order. “The matter has not yet been considered, because we require more information than has been supplied,” he said. Mr Gill was commenting on a report from Auckland which said that Rayno, who has been convicted of overstating, had been given permission to stay in New Zealand for a further three months. Rayno, a Samoan, had 14 days after his conviction to seek to have the depdrtation set aside by the Minister. However, a letter from his solicitor seeking this eannot be traced bv Immigration Department officials.
