Chess lead shared
A good performance by Smith’s City Market, which drew two-all with Paparua, has allowed Statistics to catch Paparua at the top of section A in the Ballins busi-ness-house chess tournament after five rounds. With two preliminary rounds remaining, likely qualifiers from section A are Statistics, Paparua, and C.B.L. with Woolbrokers, S.C.M. and “Christchurch Star” battling for the last place. A feature of the round was the first win by the second Tramways team. In section B, Post Office continued its winning way and is likely to be joined in the final by Tramways No. 1, Ballins and either Feltex, International Harvester or Andrews and Beaven.
