Lyle out of jail
NZPA-Reuter Golden. Colors. The American heavy-weigh, boxer, Ron Lyle, yesterday pleaded not guilty to murder in connection with the shooting ot his former sparring partner. A district court judge ordered Lvle to stand trial on November 27 but approved his request to leave the state for a three-week holiday and to tight at least one major bout in the meantime. The prosecuting attorney, Mr Nolan Brown, said he would not seek the death penalty in the trial, expected to last two weeks. Lyle, aged 36, is charged with shooting Vernon Clark, aged 39, during an argument on New Year’s Eve at Lyle’s home near Denver. Police, called to the scene by Lyle, said Clark was hit in the face by a bullet from »n automatic pistol identified as belonging to the boxer.
