Fencing upset by Harris

Graham Harris, of th* Bishopdale Swords Club, amazed local fencers by winning all three events in the Canterbury open tournament at the week-end. Discounted in pre-toumament speculation, Harris won the mixed foil, sabre and epee events.

Such a hat-trick has not been achieved in local fencing tournaments for at least 13 years.

The unluckiest fencers were Chris Nokes and Graeme Stokes who both lost barrages for first places after looking set te win their speciality events, the foil and sabre.
