Fire razes garage
Fire destroyed a double garage at a private house at 541 Ferry Road early last evening. No car was in the garage when the fire broke out about 6 p.m., but tools and other goods were destroyed. Firemen from the Central and Woolston stations
had to use breathing apparatus to fight the fire. Forty minutes later, fire damaged a house at 33 Gloucester Street. Three appliances from the Central station were called out and the fire was quickly under control. Damage was confined to two rooms.
