Subsidy for pools
Subsidy payments totalling almost $115,000 towards the cost of the new thermal pool complex at Hanmer Springs have been received by the Amuri County Council, according to the County Clerk (Mr B. J. Peters).
The latest payment *of $78,429 brings the total subsidy received to $114,897. The council will write to the two local members of Parliament, Mr E. G. Latter (Marlborough) and Mr D. F. These resulted in an announcement last December that the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Highet) had agreed to extra subsidies to enable the development of the pools to continue after the cost of the first stage of the project had risen by $lOO,OOO to $265,000.
