Youths still sought
The police are still searching for two youths suspected of stabbing another young man in Cathedral Square early on Saturday morning. Francis Robert Lee, aged 18, suffered a deep knife wound in the lower part of the back but is now reported in a comfortable condition in Princess Margaret Hospital. He staggered to a taxi stand for help after the attack and later underwent emergency surgery to remove part of the knife, which had broken off in his body. Inquiries are also continuing into an attack with a broken beer bottle on a man near the Embassy Hotel on Saturday night. A youth appeared in the Magistrate’s I Court yesterday in connection with the incident. The victim, David Harvey, aged 28, is now reported in a comfortable condition in The Christchurch Hospital.
