U.N. Assn seeking members
A call for increased membership to meet the
“unbelievable” rise in costs has been made by the retiring president of the Canterbury’ branch of the United Nations Association (the Rev. J. D. Grocott).
Membership now stands at 149. Trade union members and Roman Catholic priests were the largest groups within the branch, Mr Grocott told the annual meeting. He called for a membership drive among business firms and younger people. The newlv-elected presi dent (Mr I. R. Densem) paid tribute to the energy and hard work of Mr Grocott during his five-year term as president. He had left the branch in a far stronger position than it had been five years ago.
