Autex on floor-tile export drive
■ Autex Industries, Ltd, a private Auckland-based flooring manufacturer has adapted its carpet tiles to international requirements in a bid to increase sales in Australia and South-East i Asia. The 100 per cent polypropylene carpet tiles have ; just been released in Auck- . land simultaneously with the ' [ shipment of a $102,000 export order to Australia. ■ By improving the prod--5 uct’s wearing qualities and 1 presentation to the do-it-yourself market, the com-, t pany expects the tiles to be llbig sellers locally and overli seas, particularly in Australia. > Sixty per cent of the in- ) itial Australian export order .will be released in the stores
of the nation-wide retailer, Clark Rubber Shoes Proprietary Ltd. The rest will be distributed through Autex'j traditional wholesale outlets. Clarkes have 70 stores I throughout Australia and Autex predicts that tile sales through these and other retailers will exceed $500,000 this year.
