One-match suspension
Sydenham will be without its loose forward. Paul Atkinson, when it meets Marist-Western Suburbs in the eighth round of the Canterbury rugby league premiership at the Show Grounds on Saturday. Atkinson was on Monday evening suspended for one match by the league’s board of control. He was sent from the field during the game against Hornby last Sunday, the referee (Mr T. C. Athletics. — The Cuban sprinter, Silvio Leonard, ran a hand-timed 9.9 seconds to win the 100 metres at an international athletics meeting in Havana. The time equals the present world record, but will not count for record purposes since it was not electronically timed.
