Otago golfers dominant
PA Dunedin The Otago Club golfers, playing on their home course, dominated play in the challenge cup at the New Zealand women's autumn handicap foursomes at Balmacewen yesterday. Local knowledge has always been considered a distinct advantage on the testing and strenuous Balmacewen course, and the result bore this out. All four pairs for today's semifinals are from the Otago Club. The only outside combination to perform with distinction was the Walmate pairing of Mrs Helen Hayes and Mrs Shirley Sadler, who went down 3 and 1 after a hard struggle in their quarter-final match with the strong Otago combination of Mrs Pen Whitaker and Mrs Fiona
