Swift snatch in Auckland
PA Auckland Two Polynesian men allegedly stole about $6OO from a handbag left in a back room of a shop on the fifth floor of the 246 building in Queen Street yesterday. Police said that the manageress of the Cookery Nook on the fourth floor of the 246 had emptied the till
and placed the money in her handbag ready for banking. Later, while her attention was diverted, the two men apparently crept behind the shop front and stole the contents of the bag.
The police were alerted quickly. but the men managed to lose themselves in the crowd in the large department store.
