Overseas borrowing

Sir, — B. Bradley should be the last one to accuse the National Party of being misleading after writing such inaccurate rubbish. Mr Muldoon for three years warned Labour of the consequences of its economic mismanagement and in every speech before the last election warned that the growing inflation rate would be even higher early this year and that there was no alternative to continued borrowing to replace Labour’s short-term high interest loans with long-term low interest ones. Did Labour try to mislead the public by not publishing the figures for increased Government charges this vear or did its leader forget? Did it try to mislead the public by not announcing its last loan of S2oom arranged just before its demise? Your correspondent may have been misled by Labour’s secretiveness but the country was not. — Yours, etc., J. F. GARVEY. July 20, 1976.
