'X Z. Press Assoctattoni SYDNEY 1 Two young New Zealanders. John Goodwin and Brian Prow, won the final of i the 500 mm double-handed I handicap sawing contest at j Sydney’s Royal Easter Show. Goodwin and Prow, the most successful New Zealand contestants on the final day of the wood-chopping and sawing carnival, won from two New South Wales brothers, Jim and Jack McCarthy, in 22 seconds. The New Zealand champion pair, Les Bolstad and Dave Lamberton, were narrowly beaten in the 600 mm double-handed championship final after Bolstad had xvon the single-handed title for the ninth successive year. Bolstad and Lamberton were beaten by half a second by the New South Wales pair, Reg Chalker and Phil Windley, in 28.5 seconds. Bolstad competing in his fourteenth Royal Easter 'Show was also fourth in both I the 325 mm and 375 mm standing chop. Lamberton qualified for the tree-felling championship, but was unplaced in the final won again by Tasmania’s Bell Youd.
