Change of venue
Because the Museum Theatre is not available the Canterbury Film Society will transfer tomorrow night’s screening of “Intolerance” to Room 15 at the Arts Centre (entrance Rolleston Avenue), beginning at 7.30 p.m. D, W. Griffith’s complex dramatic spectacle, interweaving four separate stories from different periods of history, is considered his greatest achievement, and its influence has been enormous, especially in the Soviet cinema. Next week’s feature. Nagisa Oshima’s award-winning “Boy,” in colour, will have its Wednesday screening at the Museum Theatre as usual.
Officers elected at the society’s annual meeting were: president, Mr Maurice Askew; vice-president, Mr Tony Tritt; secretary, Mr Tom Britten; committee, Misses Lesley Hubbard, Ngaire Pilling, Messrs Mark Adams.
