Painting prize

Richard Killeen, of Auckland, has won the $lOOO Tokoroa Painting Award, With his painting, “Lichen.” Merit awards of $5O went to Rob Taylor and Robert McLeod, of Plimmerton. They are brothers-in-law. The ' judge, Mr Ernest Smith, the director of the Auckland City Art Gallery, also presented a special merit award to lan Scott, of Auckland. ■ The award was the eleventh > made by the Tokoroa Art i Society. Mr Smith said this year’s 'entries bore testimony to the position as a national icompetition. This was exiemplified by the inclusion of imany of the country’s notable iand up-and-coming artists.
