University needs house
The Council of the Univer-1 sity of Canterbury has ap-i plied to the Waima’iri County I Council for a.specified depar-1 ture, to allow continued use: of a house at 50 Creyke Road which the County, Council had asked the university to; vacate. The house at 50 Creyke i Road is used as offices for the department of extension studies. The University Coun-
cil was asked to vacate the premises because the area was zoned residential. An application by the university council for a conditional use permit was declined. The university council’s meeting on Monday was told that it had approval for a grant-in-aid of $40,000 to buy the property.
