Appeal for clean-up of races
An appeal was made on ! Monday to rural land-owners in Paparua County to clear
obstructions in water-races: on their road frontages or properties. “A very substantial number of farmers think the' council will clear the races, but we are limited in what we can do.” the County Engineer (Mr J. D. Annan) told a meeting of the Paparua County Council's stock watersupplv committee yesterday. "We cleared the roadsides, and this mav have given the impression that we would do more after the gale on August I.’’ said Mr Annan. “I appreciate that this is a busy time for farmers, but we must make a strong approach to property-owners, asking for their help.” <
