(N.Z.P. A.Reuter—Copyright) PEKING. Filbert Bayi, of Tanzania, fighting to regain top form after a bout of malaria, plans to run the 5000 m in Peking today for only the second time in his career. Bayi, holder of the mile and 1500 m world records, said be >s now quite fit after a bad malaria attack in Sweden. He said the attack was very serious—“my temperature went up to 104 deg.” Bavi missed competitions in Sweden and London. Although he later ran in Mozambique “with my joints very weak.” he decided to skip the recent United States of America-Africa meeting to train back into top condition for the Tanzania-China athletics international.
