Sir, — Your correspondent, Gladys M. Travers, has assumed that women will not be represented in planning Rolleston. The group commissioned to prepare the plan includes well-known Australian consultants ex'perienced in the fields of I urban planning and health services. Their senior social planner, Mrs Suzanne de Monchaux, will be leading the social design team. Mrs de Monchaux has had extensive experience in many pro-1 jects similar to Rolleston, is! chief social planner to Aus-; traiian new towns, and is an; acknowledged leader in the! field of social planning. She! is now in Christchurch making contact with various or-; Iganisations and people including several women. Some months ago a social aspects sub-committee was set up to advise on the problems and needs of the new town. The committee comprises local people ex-
perienced and knowledgable in this field, and includes two women. Your correspondent is welcome to approach me for further information. — Yours etc. P. F. REYNOLDS. District Commissioner of Works. April 14, 1975.
Sir, — Does the new Minister of Works intend to call a halt to the large sum of taxpayers’ money that is being daily expended at Rolleston? The new . Minister, with considerable local experience, should take the opportunity offered to him to take another look at the whole Rolleston concept. — Yours etc., WASTEFUL. April 9, 1975.
