House fails to sell

A three-bedroom home at 2 Thorrington Road, Cashmere, was passed in at auction yesterday for $36,750 The two-storey weatherboard home, on a 41.9-perch section, has a Government valuation (1969) of $11,350.

The auctioneer was Mr D. O. Chapman, for Ford and Hadfield, Ltd. Of 10 sections offered for sale in a subdivision off Cutts Road, Avondale, at auction on Saturday, only two were sold.

A 29.3-perch section was sold for $15,500 and a 24.4perch section for $14,750. Bidding for the other sections failed to reach the reserve price. The auctioneer. Mr C. M. Robertson, of Sherris and Wilson. Ltd. described response to the auction as disappointing. A similar subdivision of 23 sections offered at auction two weeks before had met an enthusiastic market, but Saturday’s gallery of about 70 people was unwilling to buy, he said.
