ALAN BALL SUSPENDED

The England soccer captain, Alan Ball, failed in an I appeal against being sent off . ! during a club match last month and yesterday was suspended for three matches. A fellow Arsenal player, Bob McNab, lost a similar appeal and was also given a ,th r e e-match suspension. . which begins next Monday " for both players. Ball and McNab were sent ’ [ off by the referee for dissent .during a match in Derby on , J February 22. J Their appeal against the ’(referee’s ruling was made to {(the Football Association disciplinary commission against; ' Arsenal’s wishes. 1 The decision to appeal meant that both players >i were able to take part in a r vital F.A. Cup quarter-final against West Ham. It also h left Bali free to captain Eng’'land against West Germany- ■ two weeks ago. Ball will miss three club i: games but will be available Fto play in England’s EuroSipean championship game s(against Cyprus in London on (April 16.
