N.Z. GOLF SIDE WINS
<N 7 Press Assn —Copyright) SYDNEY. The New Zealand junior golf team opened its Australian competitions with a 4-3 win over Tasmania in the Shell championships at Hobart yesterday. This is the first time that New Zealand has competed in the Australian interstate tournament. In other matches South Australia beat Victoria 5-2, and New South Wales beat Western Australia 4-3. Queensland had the bye. The teams will play a complete round-robin during Easter. The New Zealand results: |S. Reese lost to G. Purden one down. R. Johnston lost to P. Garth at the twentieth. S. Morpeth beat G. Hardy 2 and 1. S. Robinson lost to G. Jones 3 and 1, N. Davies beat K. Land 1 up, M. Baltrop beat L. Barwick 2 up. M. Brown beat D. Raw 4 and 2.
