AMBASSADOR TO U.K.
(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) WASHINGTON. President Ford says he will nominate a former Attorney-General, Elliot Lee Richardson, to be United States Ambassador to Great Britain.
The nomination, subject to Senate approval, had been expected for several weeks. Mr Richardson was dismissed as Attorney-General by President Nixon in the famous “Saturday night massacre” of October, 1973, when Mr Richardson refused to dismiss the Watergate Special Prosecutor, Professor' Archibald Cox.
The Massachusetts Republican held two other Cabinet posts in the Nixon Adminis-tration-Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare and Secretary’ of Defence. If confirmed, Mr Richardson will succeed Mr Walter, Annenberg, a Philadelphia publisher and close friend of Mr Nixon, who has already announced his intention to re-
