Schoolboys beaten

(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) BRISBANE. After its brilliant display against New South Wales in the opening match of the Australasian schoolboy cricket championships, New Zealand came back to earth in its match with Western Australia.

After heavy overnight rain delayed the start until 1.30 p.m., and the match was reduced to 32 overs a side, New Zealand’s gamble of fielding first looked good when Western Australia was contained to 119 for seven. John Ackland again bowled steadily and took three for 61. New Zealand appeared to be moving steadily to a win until wickets fell in quick succession, and the side was eventually all out for 76.
