8000m to Brydon
Content to stay with the bunch while so many were scrapping to get on B. G. StockwelTs wheel, P. D. Brydon flashed past Stockwell to win the 8000 m finale to last evening's track cycling meeting at Denton Park.
Stockwell. not surprisingly.; was the man most watched, and in the last four laps, R. R. Thomson. G. P. Sword, nad I. R. | Steele were disputing the fav-; oured position behind him. Buti when it came to the bell. Brydon I had ridden himself into the prime position even if he had Ito battle to get over Stockwell. Again, there was no one dominant rider in the A grade ama- ( teur events, although when it was hardest Stockwell was best, j file was hardly ever headed in* the points race, and Sword madej .second place a formality, too.' by sticking to Stockwell’s wheel. | lie was there again in the I 2000 m. won by J. Schriek. K. W. I ;Reid led out and even looked! capable of holding off Schriek ■ and P. D. Brydon, but Stockwell j and Sword flew' home for the! minor places. Sword got third! in the 8000 m »as well
K. P. Basher again had the) best results in the amateur B, grade and appears due for pro-' motion. A, Diider reversed most of the; I previous meeting’s results by ; 'beating G. R. Monk three times.; jin four races, although the lat-j Iter held control in the hardest! event, a “Devil take the hind-' most.”
