PRESIDENT’S CROQUET
(N Z. Press Association' GORE. Rain affected the opening dav’s play at the New Zealand Croquet Association’s President’* Invitation tournament for intermediate players which began on the Gore green yesterday. The tournament involves eight players from many parts of the country and is expected to end on Friday. Results:— First round.—G. Shaw (Otagoi 26 W. Walker (South Canterbury) 8; Mrs F. J. Fraser (Canterbury) 26, Mrs C. McHerron (West Coast) 14; Mrs R. Page (Franklin) 26, Mrs 11. Dempsey (South Canterbury) 20; Mrs AMcKay (South Taranaki) 26, G. Howes (Canterbury) 21. Second round.—Mrs Fraser 26. Howes 23; Mrs Dempsey 26, Mrs Walker 7; Mrs McKay 26, Mrs McHerron 20. Third round.—Mrs McHerron 26, Mrs Dempsey 9; G. Howes 26. G.
