Cameron in bad weather

1 In spite of cold stormy i headwinds and rain the Christchurch long-distance athlete. D. G. Cameron, covered more than 50 miles yesterday to keep ahead of schedule in his attempt to beat the 1300-mile record from Bluff to Cape Reinga. Yesterday he was given a mayoral reception in Taupo and stopped for the night near Kinleith, completing the sixteenth consecutive day of running since he left Bluff on October 6. Soldiers from Waiouru military camp ran more than 60 miles with him in the last two days.

Today, according to Mr J. Foley, of Trans Tours, the organisers of the record attempt, more than 50 Waikato sportsmen will meet Cameron near Tokoroa and take him through to Hamilton.
