Television award winners

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 25.

Feltex Television award winners received their trophies tonight at a ceremony in the Hannah Playhouse, Wellington.

The Performer of the Year award was won by Bill McCarthy, front man for the N.Z.B.C. Commonwealth Games coverage. A special award was accepted on behalf of the production teams by Mr- S. Hosgood, executive producer, and Mr H. Anderson.

The Programme of the Year was Tony Isaac’s documentary, “Richard John Seddon—Premier.” Other awards were: Actor of the Year, Tony Currie, for his portrayal of Seddon; writer’s award, Alexander Guyan for his play, “Lunch with Richard Burton”; award for crafts allied to television production, Janice Wharekawa, vision mixer, of Auckland.

The awards were presented by the Minister of Finance (Mr Rowling) and the actor, Ewen Solon.
