University appointment

Dr W. Eversman, who has [been a visiting lecturer at (the University of Canterbury since 1972, has been appointed to the second chair of mechanical engineering at [the university. [ Dr Eversman, who was [associate professor of aeronautical engineering at Wichita State University in the United States before coming to Christchurch, gained his doctorate in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University, California. where he was later a lecturer in aeronautical engineering. He has also worked as a research engineer for the Lockheed Missiles and Space Corporation, the Continental Aviation and Engineering Corporation, and the Boeing Company, for which he has been both a staff specialist and a consultant. He is author of severtl works on aeronautical and space engineering and has done research for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He is married with three children.
