MELBOURNE, May 20. In what is seen as a rebuff for the Australian Federal Labour Government, the Liberal Party tonight seemed headed towards an easy win in the Victorian state elections, held yesterday. The latest counting tonight was.— Liberal 46 (four up), Labour 19 (three down). Country Party seven (one down).
There were several doubtful seats. The vote of the Democratic Labour Party fell from 13.3 per cent in 1970 to 7.6 per cent, in what was believed to be the worst result the party has ever had in a Victorian election.
