40 tornado claims

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. About 40 property owners have lodged claims with the Earthquake and War Damage Commission for damage suffered in . the tornado in (the Opunake-Manaia area.

i The insurance assessor representing the commission in New Plymouth, Mr G. L. A. Bognuda, said he thought the value of the claims would be about $lOO,OOO. None of the houses damaged in the tornado needed to be demolished, he said Only one house was • destroyed.
