Children on roadside killed by car

Two young children — both girls — were killed when they were hit by a car on the Rotorua-Whakatane highway , 20 miles from Rotorua, about 4.30 yesterdayafternoon, the Press Association reports.

A third girl was slightly hurt in the accident. The Rotorua police said the three children were walking on the edge of the road at the time. Those killed were Katrina Jennifer Marks, aged four, of Kiwi Street. Whakatane. and

The accident happened at 1.45 p.m. at Te Tokai when the man was swimming with companions and got into difficulties.

The police recovered the body after a two-hour search.
