Former P.M. gravely ill

The former Prime Minister of Canada, Mr Lester Pearson is gravely ill, suffering from a recurring illness that led to the loss of an eye in 1970 when he underwent surgery for removal of a tumour Although he had been under treatment, Mr Pearson and his wife left a week before Christmas for three weeks in Florida. He was flown back to Ottawa on Christmas Eve.
