BENEFIT CONCERT

A cast of about 500, led by the pop singer, Bartholomew John, will take part on Sunday night in a benefit concert in the Town Hall for the St James School Development Committee. Two school choirs — the Sacred Heart Schola and the St Mary’s College choir — will be featured, along with the New Zealand Army Band, and members of the Fijian Band. A nine-year-old talent quest winner, Catherine Bamford, will appear, and musical interludes will be provided by the Tony Peek Trio. The items will be introduced by Gary Wakefield (formerly of the Southerners) and Frank Walmsley.
