Rights of authors

The right of any author to be reimbursed for the public borrowing of his books from libraries will form the basis of a Workers’ Educational Association seminar on October 7. The discussion on the public lending right, as the question has come to be called, will be introduced by a writer, Mr Philip Temple, and the former Wellington City librarian, Mr S. Perry, who is also a former member of the Indecent Publications Tribunal. The chairman will be Mr J. R. Milligan. As well as the validity or otherwise of the public lending right principle, discussion will cover questions such as who should pay and by what means.

The seminar will be a public one and open to all interested persons, although attendance will be limited to 60.
