DUAL ROAD SIGNS?

(N Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, July 21. Road signs marked only in metric measure were criticised by Mr T. E. V. Turpin at yesterday’s meeting of the National Roads Board in Wellington. Mr Turpin, representing private motorists on the board, said such signs should be dual-marked for some time to come. Such a move would not be in line with the Metric Advisory Board’s policies but would overcome much of the frustration which many people felt. The board’s signs committee was instructed to check the feasibility of having selfadhesive labels showing distances in miles for use on metric signs in the meantime.
