Club asked not to tour S. Africa
(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) LLANELLI. A leading Welsh Rugby club considering a tour of South Africa this year has been asked to drop the idea, the Welsh newspaper, “Western Mail,” reported. The Llanelli c|ub, which celebrates its centenary next year, has accepted in principle the plan to send a team to South Africa in June. Five matches are plan-
ned but no itinerary has been decided. The Llanelli Borough Council has decided, by nine votes to seven, to ask the club not to go. Councillor Haydn Williams said that in view of South Africa’s racial policies, ths tour would go against ths traditions and character of the club. The club secretary, Mr K. Jones, said the council’s appeal would be considered but no final decision had been made on the tour.
