SHIELD TENNIS

Auckland team named (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND The Auckland representative lawn tennis teams to defend the Wilding Shield and the Nunneley Casket in Christchurch on March 4 and 5, were announced last night. The five men are: J. G. Fergusson. R McGhie, J. Mills, J. Ross, and P. Thomson; and the women’s team is: Miss J. Connor, Miss C. Fleming, Mrs J. Fraser, Miss B. Vercoe and Miss L. Ward.

There is some doubt that McGhie will be avsliable. He will fly to Australia soon to join M. Phillips, a former junior hardcourt champion. He will then go to South Africa.
