Conference in Singapore

(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) SINGAPORE, Dec. 28. The Leader of the New Zealand Opposition (Mr Kirk) is expected to visit Singapore next May to attend a conference of Democratic Socialist parties in the AsianPacific region. Mr Kirk, who is chairman of the Asian-Pacific bureau of Socialist International, will be chairman of the week-long conference. A spokesman for Singapore’s ruling People’s Action Party, Mr L. P. Rodrigo, said it was hoped that Mrs Golda Meir, Prime Minister of Israel, would also attend. Democratic Socialist and Labour parties from New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Israel, Japan, South Korea and India will be represented at the conference.
