700 at free show

“They thought about the old folk but the Government did not,” said one elderly woman as she left a free matinee of the Ray and Renee Show at the Civic Theatre yesterday afternoon. More than 700 senior citizens attended the show, which lasted for an hour ana a half. “I have loved this afternoon more than anything since I came to New Zealand," Ray told the audience. He had a lot of respect for senior citizens, he said, "as they know a lot more than we do.” The American duo sang popular songs, danced, and told jokes to an enthusiastic audience.

Asked what she thought about the show, one elderly woman said: “It helps to bridge the generation gap ” Another thought the show was “beautiful,” while an elderly man said it was “not too noisy.”
