Mona Vale plans
Mona Vale was not being used to its full extent, and he hoped that when the committee comprising representatives of the'City Council and the Riccarton Borough Council had their next meeting in February there would be a scheme presented that would make the property a more viable proposition, the Mayor (Mr N. G. Pickering) said yesterday.
The Mona Vale Management Committee, with new members as a result of the recent local body elections, held its first meeting yesterday. There had been agreement that about an acre of land should be sold for town house development, Mr Pickering said. The land development would not interfere with the. bog garden, which would form a barrier between the Mona Vale park area and the town house development. Plans had been prepared to retain all the trees possible, and only one or two trees, one a bluegum which was diseased and due for felling, would need to be removed.
