Jade discovery

One of the largest deposits of nephrite jade in the world has been discovered in the Yukon, in Canada. The deposit covers the top of a 5500 ft mountain and, according to its discoverers, is of | high quality. Nephrite is the more common of the two jades, jadelite being the other. There are several mining operations in Canada and the' jade is exported to Hong Kong, West Germany, and the' United States. One of the two types of New Zealand: greenstone is nephrite jade. This is known commercially I as New Zealand jade.
