Prices little changed
Trading on Smithfield Market was slow with most commodities in excess of retailers' requirements last week, the Meat Board reports.
Against competition from heavy arrivals of home-killed lamb, plentiful supplies of New Zealand lamb (29 to steadily at quotations little changed from the previous week. The main grade of Newe Zaland lamb (29 to 361 b) realised 12.5 to 133 p. Small quantities of New Zealand mutton continued to sell very slowly. Nominal quotations for carcases were: Hogget (49 to 561 b), 12 to 8.0 p; prime wethers (481 b and under), 7.0 t0,7.5p; prime ewes (481 b and under), 65 to 7.1 p. Quotations for New Zealand lamb were:—
