ALTRUSA CLUB PROJECTS
Raising $5OO for furnishing equipment for the Can-terbury-Westland Cancer Education Mobile Unit, and $5OO for the organisation of a new club in Timaru were the year’s two main projects for the Altrusa Club of Christchurch.
Both had been worth-while projects for members, said the annual report. Other projects during the j'ear were donations to the Walter Nash Memorial Orphanage in South Vietnam. assistance in the Braille Week collection and the Heart Appeal, and an
"encouraging” membership drive. Funds had also been raised to buy a special wheelchair for use by handicapped childlren in a proposed new swimming pool, it was reported at the recent annual meeting. The club hoped to again sponsor girls to the Y.W.C.A. holiday camp.
Officers elected.—President, Mrs E. Blazey; immediate past president. Miss L. Scott; vice-presidents, Mrs J. Bissett, Miss M. Dunn; minute secretary, Miss L. Sams; corresponding secretary, Miss Clark; treasurer, Mrs J. Gray; board of directors, Mesdames C. Lamb, J. Petersen.
