K. R. Rosewall (Australia) beat M. Riessen (United States), 6-2, 7-5, 6-1, in the final of the $50,000 “Washington Star” international tennis championship. Rosewall, aged 36, and seeded only ninth in spite of a remarkable career record on a clay surface, won $lO,OOO for his victory.
