Rumania, beaten in the 1969 Davis Cup challenge round by the United States, completed a 5-0 European zone Group B tennis final triumph over West Germany when it won the reverse singles. The Rumanians earned a tie against India in the interzone semi-final in New Delhi on July 30 when they took a 3-0 winning lead against West Germany, beaten by the Americans in last year’s challenge round.

Mexico took a 2-1 lead over Brazil when it won the doubles in the American zone final. J. L. Mayo and V. Zarazua beat T. Koch and J. Mandarino, 8-6, 7-5, 6-2. The winners of the tie play Czechoslovakia in the interzone semi-finals.
