TROTTING New Brighton has profit of $16,764

A record profit of $16,764 is shown in the accounts to be presented at the annual meeting of the New Brighton Trotting Club next Monday. Last year, the club reported a loss of $371.

The club held four meetings during the season, compared with five meetings during the previous year, says the report of the president (Mr J. R. Hartley). This had resulted in increased receipts from the T.A.8., but with rising costs and a reduced

share of the T.A.B. distribution, the profit for the coming season would be well down.

Stakes distributed during the season amounted to $69,950, giving the club a record daily average of $17,487, against $13,990. Jamieson, who has been honorary treasurer of the club since 1955, is not seeking re-election. He was elected a steward of the club in 1943, and to the committee a year later. He was vice-president in 1951, and president from 1953 to 1955. He was elected a life member in 1966.

Mr E. Osborne is not seeking re-election as a steward of the club, a position he has held since 1948.

The club paid $33,286 to Addington Raceway, Ltd, against $28,929. Other items of expenditure, with those for the previous year in parenthesis, were:—

Totalisator receipts of $127,019, against $116,820, provided the bulk of the club’s income. Nomination and acceptance fees amounted to $10,258, against $10,456, and gate receipts of $14,190. against $13,298. The balance-sheet shows that the club has cash investments of more than $llO,OOO.
