Triton back in work

“The Press” Special Service ■ NEW PLYMOUTH. Triton has resumed work at Woodville, looking a picture after his short let-up. Classic Mission, another of S. Brown’s big hopes for Australia this spring, is also back. Triton returned to the track on Monday, and'showed no sign of the mystery ailment which has in the past restricted his action until he has warmed up. Yesterday morning, he moved straight into a canter, and was exercised lightly on the sand. Classic Mission looks a ball of muscle, and is obviously going to be a star galloper next season. There was no work of note. | Gallops were on the inside grass, which was soft.

Hi Vita started from the mile and picked up Tiromai near the five furlongs. Hi Vita came away over the last three in 42sec, but both were hard held. Hi Vita will contest the Winter Handicap at Hastings, and Tiromai will resume in the open sprint on the second day there.

Bill Bailey worked once round and then sprinted the last three furlongs of the second round in 41 l*ssec. He is ready for a good effort in the Hawke’s Bay Steeplechase. His stablemate, Petone, was sprinted in preparation for the Kennels Steeplechase. With only 9-3, he is well placed on Saturday after his bold race for third in the Manawatu Steeplechase. Downpatrick, one of his race rivals, schooled safely over 14 steeplechase fences. He had little pace on. Saba Star jumped six hurdles, and was also not asked to go fast. The pair then ran six furlongq in Imin 21 3-ssec, the last three in 41 4-ssec.
