Sir,—"Citric” states that it was “sentiment alone that brought New Zealand to fight for Britain when the- British people were fighting for their lives in 1940.” I don’t agree. Surely it was obvious then, as now, that if Britain had been conquered, the Commonwealth would have been annexed by Germany with only token resistance. Stormtroopers would have been goose-stepping in Cathedral Square within a couple of weeks.—Yours, etc., NO LEMON. May 20, 1971.
